It's a good day if your name is Don Cherry, because "faceoff specialist" Mike Zigomanis has been re-signed to return to play with the Toronto Marlies. Also signing on is Will Acton, and some other guy who played for the Oklahoma City Barons last season.
Kyle Cicerella pointed this out in the above-linked article:
With Zigomanis and Acton both returning, Toronto’s deep down the middle and may see Zigomanis, Keith Aucoin, Joe Colborne and Acton as their four centreman to start the season.
Zigomanis, Aucoin, Fraser and Captain Ryan Hamilton are each classified by AHL rules as a "veteran". Each team can have six vets, which means the Marlies still have two available veteran spots available depending on the future of Matt Lashoff and Kelsey Wilson.
I wasn't aware of this 6-veteran limit, but I suppose it's good news for Leafs prospects.

This story just keeps on going. A judge threw out the petition, saying it was improperly worded, and rejected putting the sals-tax increase on a ballot later in the year. Also, it appears that potential owner Greg Jamison is $20M short of the asking price. From David Shoalts.
