Story of the week
After four Olympic golds, multiple World Championships, six seasons backstopping Montréal in the NWHL, another four in the CWHL and winning top goaltender for the last three consecutive seasons, Charline Labonté topped off her career as a Clarkson Cup champion and MVP.
While there are many queer female hockey players who are casually out, Labonté is one of the few to make a public declaration, coming out in reaction to the Russian laws around “homosexual propaganda” after she won her fourth gold medal at the Sochi Olympics.
We have links below about her story and her legacy, but to see what les Canadiennes will be missing this season, here are her highlights from the past season and her international career.
