Without Nylander, team Sweden has a perfect record in the preliminary round, defeating all four teams in regulation to garner the maximum number of points. Sweden won its quarterfinal match yesterday against Slovakia with a 6-0 shutout, and will advance to play Finland in the semifinal round.

Switzerland, the team responsible for Nylander's tournament-ending injury, won its relegation match against Belarus, and will be attending the 2017 WJC in Montreal.
