Sigh. We knew it would be hard to beat Minnesota without Natalie Spooner. We didn't have the presumptuous league MVP and they had Taylor Heise in a season where the only reason they didn't finish first or second in the league was a slow start after the Worlds break.

But excuses are just that. PWHL Toronto does not get the chance to win the inaugural Walter Cup. That sucks, but it was still an honour to watch Spooner every night and a joy to watch Toronto steamroll the league after thinking they were going to tank for the first overall pick by the end of January.

This first PWHL season was a success in so many ways, not least of which it should tell Toronto to aim as high as they can, because they have an army of supporters that will watch them anytime, anywhere. Supporters who will go so hard for every player, every play.

I also need to apologize for doubting Jocelyne Larocque. She's amazing and so far from just a defensive defender it's hilarious. I'm sorry for doubting you at second overall. You're an amazing player, penalties and all.

Thinking back to the draft and the kickoff of the PWHL, it'll be the teams who picked first and third that will fight for the Walter Cup. Minnesota vs Boston. Heise vs Müller. Coyne vs Knight. Adzila vs Zumwinkle. Cava vs Brandt. Jaques vs Keller. America vs America. The list goes on.

Maybe next year they'll think about a bronze medal game, or we get Toronto vs Montreal in the final instead. I'd have loved to have seen that series. Spooner vs MPP. Campbell vs Desbiens. Chef's kiss. Ah well, there's always next year.

LETS GO T.O. !!

The Leafs have a head coach. I need someone to convince me what's being said about is not more-or-less what was said about the last guy. To be honest, I didn't think the problem with this year's team was how they were coached, it was who was on the roster. Keefe probably could've been let go years ago, it just happened to be now. Here's hoping they don't have the 10th best season again next year.

What a bombshell!

In other news, speculation season is well underway.

While PWHL Boston is in the finals, NHL Boston was eliminated from the playoffs.

I'd like to see the Leafs take a run at Debrusk, but hopefully that injury is fixed first with no lasting damage. I also have to ask, did they need him to play with a broken hand at any time from January to April?

DeBrusk had five goals and 11 points in 13 games with the Bruins through the postseason.

The Rangers eliminated the Hurricanes on Thursday night, so that's the Eastern Final starting as early as this Sunday.
