You’ll notice when they show “Paul and Bonnie” that there is no Bonnie. She missed the whole thing, and arrived back at her seat afterwards looking chagrined. She’ll have many more chances to see him score, maybe even in this game.
This was also Nikita Zaitsev’s first NHL point, and he was the man who made the play happen in the defensive zone. Shout out too to Tyler Bozak with an excellent little feed ahead to Marner.
Sometimes a secondary assist is nothing, it’s just a pass or a barely touched puck, but this time it really was the backbone of the play, so a well-deserved pair of first points.
As far as Marner going back to junior hockey? We can forget that idea, but it is nice that the London Knights haven’t forgotten their MVP.

Former London Knight captain @Marner93 has scored his first NHL career goal! Congrats!
Okay, Mr. Marner, that was lovely, now you just need four more to outdo your new teammate.
