The GOAT is officially on the board.
Selected 21st overall in the 2013 NHL Draft, Frederik Gauthier made his NHL debut towards the end of this season: one of several Maple Leafs prospects. Hey, he's got 17 points through 54 games for the Marlies in his first professional season - why not give the 6'5 forward a taste of the bigs?
That taste is starting to pay off as now, just five games in to his NHL career, he's got his very first NHL point: an assist on a shorthanded goal, courtesy of Morgan Rielly.
It's veteran Brooks Laich carrying it up the ice, and Gauthier with the zone entry before he drops it back for Rielly. One perfect shot later, and just like that, Gauthier, while playing the penalty kill, is officially on the board.
Hopefully it's the first of many for him! What a way to cap off your first professional season.
