It’s that time of year when everyone suddenly is out for the season.
His recovery period is expected to be 4-6 weeks.

Victor Mete is also out for about six weeks (too bad he didn’t go back to junior, eh, Hunter brothers?) so naturally, the Habs are calling up their top defensive prospect. That’s Rinat Valiev, you may have heard of him?
Rinat Valiev says he did request a trade from the Leafs. He’ll wear Rod Langway’s old number 17.

He wanted an NHL shot, well now he’s getting one. The Habs have also called up Zachary Fucale, so pencil in March 17 as the day the Leafs get to play this encroyable roster.
Meanwhile St. Louis, who seem to be willing themselves to failure have lost Jay Bouwmeester for the rest of the season.
Armstrong said Nikita Soshnikov is dealing with a sore neck and not skating today. Joel Edmundson is practicing with the team today for the first time since the injury. #stlblues

Kunin will undergo surgery once the swelling goes down in a few weeks. Sidelined 6-8 months. Opens eventual door for Kyle Rau, Landon Ferraro, Zack Mitchell, Sam Anas, etc.

Wild have 12 healthy forwards on roster.
Tough blow for Kunin and the Wild. Just a weird play in corner https://t.co/ENrhxD6hbb
So, the Wild will get Jordan Greenway as soon as his college season is over, so not feeling too sorry for them. I wonder what they’d do to sign Kirill Kaprizov who is close to a point per game in the KHL at 20 years old?
Faksa is out. Lindell is questionable. Hintz has been called up on an emergency basis. Smith is in. Honka may play. Bishop tonight, Kari tomorrow.

Lots of moving parts before puck drop tonight. #GoStars https://t.co/NUktYggrnD
The Leafs play Dallas soon too.

All of this makes the Leafs missing Auston Matthews for a few games seem sort of tame and dull. So dull, that, ow, my knee, OMG. Yeah, we’re just going to rehab in Mexico until April 8 when the Boo-ins play the Panthers on the last day of the season. Yeah, that’s it. We’re not tanking, no, we’re just hurt. Just like all those Habs. (The sad fact is, I think all those Habs really are hurt.)
