After the news just a few hours ago that John Tavares was hurt in training, now Leafs PR drops this bit of joy:
The @MapleLeafs announced today that defenceman Travis Dermott will undergo shoulder surgery on Friday, May 10. He is expected to miss a minimum of six months.

Dermott came back into the lineup after missing a month, played four games, and then all seven playoff games. He had one goal and two assists in the playoffs.
While it was obvious he wasn’t 100%, it never once looked like he was that injured. The same is true of Zach Hyman, who will also miss significant time after knee surgery.
Get well soon, Travis, and I guess we had all better hope Calle Rosen and Teemu Kivihalme come to camp ready to take a roster spot.
