Sounds like Toronto is going to be signing John Prokop, a free-agent defenceman from NCAA Union College
— Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) March 20, 2025
Vegas Development Camp last summer. 24 in May -- 27 points in 36 games this season
John Prokop is American, a defenceman, and has been at Union College for three years. He is about to turn 24 this spring, shoots left, and is listed at 6'3".
Union College is a private university in New York State and the hockey team plays in the ECAC division of the NCAA. Prokop is their points leader this season. He was previously invited to the the Vegas development camp in 2024, but does not seem to have ever been on the radar when he was younger at draft time.
His ELC should be for one year. Amount subject to confirmation.
🖊 We’ve signed defenceman John Prokop to a one-year contract beginning in the 2025-26 season.
