The Toronto Maple Leafs' goaltending is a mess. James Reimer is injured, Garret Sparks is now expected to be out long term, and that leaves the Leafs with just four healthy goaltenders across three teams - which is, obviously, nowhere near enough.
The Leafs have done something to counteract that, though. Or, rather, the Marlies have done something: signed Ray Emery to a PTO.

That's a name you haven't heard in a while, isn't it? Emery has played a little bit this season; he was on a PTO with the Tampa Bay Lightning in the pre-season (from which he was released), and was also on a PTO with the AHL's Ontario Reign this season, from which he was released on Dec. 4. He posted a 1-1-1 record and .878 save percentage with the Los Angeles Kings' affiliate, so... not super fantastic, but at minimum, serviceable.
It should be noted the Reign have a .762 points percentage this year, while the Marlies sit at .786, so he wasn't exactly the victim of a bad team when posting his numbers; that's just who he is now.
Emery last played in the NHL for the Philadelphia Flyers. The 33-year-old played 31 games in 2014-15, posting a 10-11-7 record and .894 save percentage.
