The original two Marlies named to this year’s team were Kasperi Kapanen and Brendan Leipsic. Kapanen was withdrawn a few days ago, and a player from the Utica Comets was added to make up the numbers.
The Marlies have now withdrawn Brendan Leipsic who was injured in a recent game and out of the lineup since. That’s the bad news. Marlies fans can only hope he recovers quickly.
Because the AHL wants a representative from every team, a Marlie had to be added this time, and they picked one of the best forwards in Kerby Rychel.
The AHL all-star event on the 29th and 30th of January comes after the Marlies boat show road trip that runs through Rochester today and then heads to St. John’s for the weekend. Regular play resumes on February 4 at home, with the all-star break running from January 29 through February 1 for all teams.
This is yet another opportunity for Rychel to show his best side to the Leafs. Tonight’s game is too, and he’s scored on the Amerks before:
