The Toronto Marlies have finally added another assistant coach to their staff. After letting longtime coaching staff member Gord Dineen go last year, the team ran with only one assistant until the end of the season. Now, they’ve filled that vacancy with former NHLer Rob Davison.

Davison was drafted in 1998 by the San Jose Sharks and ended up playing over 200 games in the NHL with the Sharks, Islanders, Canucks, and the Devils. After he played his final NHL game in 2010 with the New Jersey Devils, he bounced around the AHL and Europe, where he made connection with EC Salzberg. He would join their coaching staff for two years winning back to back championships before moving on to Dinamo Minsk of the KHL.
Rob is now coming back to Ontario, where, little fun fact for you, Davison grew up in St. Catharines and played for North Bay Centennials. Where did the Centennials move from? St. Catharines. Crazy. So, at 6’2” and 200+lbs, Davison can help out all those giant defencemen the Leafs keep drafting. He also coached development camp surprise star and invitee Kristian Pospisil while he was in Salzberg, does this help push a training camp invite further in his Popisil’s direction?
