First, before we get to the youth movement, the Marlies also made it official that they have signed Colin Greening to an AHL deal for one year:

With that potential new captain locked down the looked for some youth to shore keep the development machine rolling, and they found it mostly in their own practice rink, where several players they looked at on ATOs have been rewarded with AHL deals:

Brady Ferguson, Josh Kestner, Derian Plouffe and Scott Pooley were all ATOs this spring:

Matt Bradley is the only new name, and he is a right-shooting centre (yay!) from Surrey, BC, who played four years with the Medicine Hat Tigers and one with the Regina Pats. He’s now 22, and he is listed at six feet tall and 195 pounds.

He was originally drafted by the Montréal Canadiens in the fifth round in 2015, but was never signed by them.

He joins a team always hungry for centres, and brings some experience playing some top-six in junior hockey. He played a bit on the wing with Sam Steel this season (thanks to Omar White for bringing this intel).  And, he finished second in points to Steel, and that’s as an overager, so one would hope he was good in junior.

The Marlies don’t give any indication if these are one-way or two-way deals, but training camp will decide if they will be at Ricoh or Mile One for the season.
