Preview: It’s Jets week in Toronto
Travis Boyd is in for Kenny Agostino, Hyman will be skating with Matthews and Marner tonight on the first line. Presumably this means Joe Thornton will be with Tavares and Nylander, with Kerfoot on the third line with Mikheyev and Engvall. Defense is the same. Andersen starts.
The talk yesterday was about consistency, so here’s hoping we see that tonight.
Sheldon Keefe on where #Leafs can most improve:

"Consistency is the big one. In each area we would like to get better at, we've done it; we've shown great progress. But it's staying with it, being able to have the confidence that it's going to be there when it's most difficult"
On the Jets end, Paul Maurice is sitting his rested superhuman goalie, Connor Hellebuyck, and starting Laurent Brossoit instead. So you’re telling me there’s a chance?

The Toronto Marlies play on Sunday after beating the Rocket on Friday. A quick thing on Scott Sabourin, I’m pretty sure his move back to the Taxi Squad is a demotion rather than a promotion. He was sent down so he could play games (he mentioned how excited he was to play on Friday morning), but then he did that in his first 23 seconds before getting ejected. On the Taxi Squad he won’t get paid more and he won’t play. That sounds like punishment to me.
Overall, I’m angry with the situation because it looks really bad on the Marlies within the AHL and puts a target on the back of our goalies. I don’t know if he needed to run a goalie and punch someone in the face to feel something, but I saw it as nothing but selfish. I get people who defend it, there’s a fan bias there, but I didn’t like it. There’s split among fans on this, so I’m just giving my take. Anyway, the Marlies won, and Liljegren and Barabanov should be playing in the NHL.
