Maple Leafs (4-1-0) @ Capitals (3-2-1)
7:00 pm ET
Verizon Center Capital One Arena, D.C.
TV: TSN 4 (blackouts in effect)
Our game preview is here.
It has been almost six months since Marcus Johansson scored in overtime, his second goal of the game, to lead the Capitals to victory over the Maple Leafs in Game 6 of their first round match-up in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Johansson is no longer with the Capitals. The Caps traded him to the Devils in exchange for draft picks, including one from trhe Leafs which had been sent to the Devils for signing Lou Lamoriello in the brief window where the NHL mandated compensation for such transactions.
Tonight the Leafs star rookies play a team which includes veteran stars like Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom who have also never had the Stanley Cup. Perhaps this could be the dawn of a new rivalry, or maybe it's just another game in a long slog of a season.
