With their loss to the Panthers tonight, the Boston Bruins concede first place in the Atlantic to the Tampa Bay Lightning. That means the Toronto Maple Leafs face the Boston Bruins in the first round of the playoffs.
The season series between these two team belongs to the Leafs with three wins and one loss, and an overall goal differential of 12 to 10. I won’t mention past playoff series because that was then and this is now. The new Maple Leafs have played one playoff series, and it was against the Washington Capitals.
The playoffs begin on the road for the Leafs at TD Garden, hereafter known as Toronto Garden.
The Maple Leafs finish the season with 105 points, setting a record. Those points are meaningless now. All that matters is beating the Boston Bruins in four games.
Thursday can’t come soon enough.
