The Leafs have some illness and other absences right now, so with the Marlies off until Friday, Pontus Aberg has been recalled for at least today’s practice.

Tavares & Holl will miss today's practice due to illness
Hyman (bumps & bruises) also not going on
Clifford (grandfather's funeral) will be absent as well
Condolences to Kyle Clifford and his family.
The present:
Frederik Andersen is out for the pre-practice goalie work with Jack Campbell and Michael Hutchinson.

Kristen Shilton reports that Frederik Andersen has been placed on IR retroactive to his injury, but he could be activated and play tomorrow if healthy. No word on that health status at this time.
Because the Leafs have so much LTIR pool room right now, they can easily play with three goalies on the roster, just by limiting the skaters by one. They only have to do that for two weeks, and then the 23-man limit goes away, and cap space is the only restriction on the roster. They may simply choose to keep Michael Hutchinson on the NHL roster for the duration now.

Spotted on the ice:
Both Ilya Mikheyev and Morgan Rielly were seen today, and Mikheyev was on the ice for the first time with Barb Underhill.

Timeline for Ilya Mikheyev remains the same, he'll be re-evaluated at the three-month point of his recovery (injured Dec. 27)

All of this could be sorted out for tomorrow’s game, and we might see a very normal-looking roster. But Aberg has played so well in the AHL all season, it’s hard not to wonder how he’d fare with another shot at NHL time.
