According to Bob McKenzie of TSN, the Toronto Maple Leafs have agreed to terms with left winger Kenny Agostino on a two-year NHL contract with an AAV close to $700,000.

Agostino has journeyed around the NHL since coming out of the NCAA in 2014, playing a total of 85 NHL games with the Calgary Flames, St. Louis Blues, Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadiens, and most recently the New Jersey Devils. He’s spent most of his time in the AHL, and In 2016-17, with the Chicago Wolves, Agostino won the AHL scoring race.

Over his last three seasons in the NHL, spanning 75 games, Agostino has a very strong array of shot metrics. He drives offense on the bottom six and has very strong expected goals against numbers from the wing. Most of the time included in the following chart was spent with Montreal and Boston, two very good shot metric teams, so it’ll be interesting to see if those numbers carry over to the Maple Leafs, especially if Mike Babcock plans to play him on a line with offensive black hole Frederik Gauthier.

Highlights

He looks pretty good on a breakaway, but it’s against a Philadelphia Flyers goalie, so let’s grade that shot on a curve.

Again, here’s some slick moves off a breakout by him.

And he’d definitely be a star player for the Toronto Marlies should he be sent down.

We’ll update you with the details tomorrow when this deal can be finalized.
