The Leafs chose Semyon Der-Arguchintsev with their 76th overall pick, condemning us to years of spelling errors.
The Quick Bio
SDA, as most writers elect to call him, is a very small, skilled, quite young playmaker born in Moscow, but currently plying his trade with the Peterborough Petes of the OHL. He’s only going to turn 18 on September 15, 2018, meaning he was barely eligible for this draft year, so this is certainly a bet on future potential. Still, his vision and playmaking are highly thought-of by observers and there’s certainly a lot to like here. “Boom or bust” came up repeatedly in the instant reaction, and that’s how this one feels to me. Not at all a bad way to go in the third round.
