This afternoon the Maple Leafs confirmed news we already knew, and also added a bit of a surprise.

Veteran defender Martin Marincin has decided not to head off into unrestricted free agency, and instead has signed another one-year deal with Toronto. Marincin takes a $100k pay cut to stay with the team, signing for league minimum $700,000.
A cynic would suggest this indicates a lack of interest in the left defender, but Marincin has been a useful piece for both the Leafs and the Marlies since he signed in Toronto in 2015. Cheap replacement defence that the coaching staff already knows — not a bad deal.
