Ontario Hockey League
Mitch Marner / JJ Piccinich - London Knights
October 16: Spirit @ Knights - MM: 0G, 0A / JJP: 1G, 0A
Marner was held off the score sheet but JJ popped in London's third goal on the power play. Marner did get a cross checking penalty after getting into it with Katchouk of the Soo, who also got 2 for cross checking.
October 17: Greyhounds 2 @ Knights 7- MM: 2G, 1A / JJP: 1G, 0A
This was a great game for Marner, who had three points. He set up JJ for a goal, then scored two of his own on the power play. Scott recapped his night here.
Travis Dermott - Erie Otters
October 15: Otters 4 @ Petes 3 - 0G, 0A +2
No points for Dermott in the Otters win over the Petes., he's been playing well defensively, and personally, I don't need big point totals from a defenseman.
October 16: Otters 7 @ Generals 4 - 0G, 0A +1
A big win for the team, but Dermott is held pointless again.
Nikita Korotsolev - Sarnia Sting
October 16: Greyhounds 2 @ Sting 5 - 0G 1A
Korotsolev assisted on the Sting's second goal of the game, on the power play.
October 17: Steelheads 1 @ Sting 4 - 0G, 1A +1
Another assist for Nikita this game, coming only 3 minutes into the game. He got into a fight with Bastian of the Steelheads with 1 minute left to go in another rough game this week in the O, which saw over 30 minutes of penalties given out.
Stephen Desrocher - Oshawa Generals
October 15: Generals 1 @ Battalion 5 - 0G, 0A -1
The Generals fell to a (grumble) very good Battalion team this year. Only being on for one goal against out of five can be taken as a good sign here.
October 16: Otters 7 @ Generals 4 - 0G, 2A
Two powerplay assists in the Generals loss. He helped Oshawa hold Dermott off the score sheet for another night.
October 17: Frontenacs 1 @ Generals 0 OT - 0G, 0A
The whole Oshawa team was held pointless in this close game. Maple Leafs camp invite Lucas Peressini got the shutout despite facing 10 more shots in the game than his Generals counterpart, in this rough affair where the penalties given were fighting, slashing, and spearing only.
Quebec Major Junior Hockey League
Dmytro Timashov - Quebec Remparts
October 14: Remparts 2 @ Foreurs 4 - 1G, 1A, -2
Timashov began his excellent week with a goal and an assist in the Remparts loss to Val D'or. Both points came on the power play.
October 16: Remparts 6 @ Foreurs 3 - 0G, 2A +1
The Remparts take game 2 of their time in Val D'Or, Timahov assisting on the game opening goal and on Remparts goal #5 in the third period.
October 17: Remparts 3 @ Huskies 6 - 0G, 0A, -1
Pointless for the first time this week as the Remparts ended their northern road trip with a loss to the Huskies.
October 18 - Remparts 1 at Huskies 4 - 0 G, 0A, -1
Pointless again as the Huskies dominated the Remparts, and Quebec went home 1-3 this trip to the middle of goddamn nowhere.
Martins Dzierkals - Rouyun-Noranda Huskies
October 17: Remparts 3 @ Huskies 6 - 1G, 0A, +1
Taking a power play goal in the third period as the Huskies won over the visiting Remparts.
October 18 - Remparts 1 at Huskies 4 - 0 G, 2A
The Huskies defended the north from Quebec and Dzierkals assisted on two goals, one on the power play.
Cody Donaghey - Halifax Mooseheads
October 14: Mooseheads 2 @ Titan 0 - Did Not Play
October 17: Titan 4 @ Mooseheads 7 - Did Not Play
October 18: Moosehead 1 @ Wildcats 7 - Did Not Play
Donaghey did not play last week due to a minor knee injury. The team said it wasn't serious.
Western Hockey League
Andrew Nielsen - Lethbridge Hurricanes
October 14: Pats 4 @ Hurricanes 6 - 0G, 2A, +3
Nielsen with solid defensive play and assisting on two Lethbridge goals to end the game (the second a PP empty net) helped the Hurricanes to a 6-4 victory over Regina.
October 17: Hurricanes 5 @ Broncos 3 - 1G, 2A, +3
Nielsen with another big night on the scoreboard, opened scoring in the game early, assisted on a second period opening goal and assisting on the game winner summed up his night.
NCAA
Jeremy Bracco - Boston College
October 16: Wisconson 0 @ Boston 6 - 0G, 0A
One game last week for BC. Bracco got one shot off in the third period. His stats aren't huge but that's to be expected for a freshman.
Dominic Toninato / Tony Cameranesi - U. Minnesota-Duluth
October 16: M-Duluth 3 @ Minnesota 1 - 1G, 0A, +1 / 0G, 1A
Cameranesi asssited o nthe game winner in the second period, and Toninato got the safety goal in the third as Minn.-Duluth took down their state rivals Minnesota 3-1.
October 17: Minnesota 0 @ Minn.-Duluth 3 - 1G, 0A +1 / 0G, 1A, +1
Duluth gets it's 6th straight win over Minnesota, Toninato scored the game winner in the shutout early in the first. Cameranesi would assist on the second goal 7 minutes later and solid defense would keep the Bulldogs in the lead.
Dakota Joshua - Ohio State
October 16: Miami 3 @ Ohio State 2 - Did Not Play
October 17: Ohio State 1 @ Miami 3- 0G,0A
It's very weird that a school in Ohio is named Miami, and I know why but I still think it's weird. After sitting out the home game Dakota go into the road game this weekend. He put up no points, but was 4-2 on face offs in his NCAA debut.
Nolan Vesey - U. Maine
October 16: Maine 1 @ Union 1 - 0G, 0A, -1
In his second year in Maine Vesey is still pointless on the season. He got off 2 shots on the game and was 2-2 on faceoffs.
October 17: Maine 0 @ Union 2 - 0G, 0A
Still pointless and 0-1 on faceoffs. Maine itself is 0-2-3 on the season, so Vesey's getting prepped for life as a Leaf.
Europe
Andreas Johnson - Frolunda Indians, SHL
Jesper Lindgren - MODO, SHL
October 15: MODO 3 @ Brynas 4 - 0G, 0A
October 17: Malmo 1 @ MODO 0 - 0G, 0A
Lindgren was shutout last week as MODO struggled, and failed, to find a win.
Pierre Engvall - Mora IK, Allsvenskan (Sweden AHL)
October 13: Mora 0 @ Timra 1 - 0G, 0A
October 15: Almtuna 1 @ Mora 4 - 0G, 1A
October Karlskoga 5 @ Mora 2 - 0G, A
Mora had a rough week, losing 2 out of 3, but shone brightly against Almtuna. Engvall had 2 assists over the 3 games.
Fabrice Herzog, ZSC Lions, Swiss A League
October 13: ZSC Lions 5 @ Lugano 3 - 0G, 1A
October 16: Lausanne 1 @ ZSC Lions 2 - 0G, 1A
October 17: ZSC Lions 5 @ Ambrì-Piotta 2 - 1G, 0A
Forgotten last week, Fabrice Herzog is doing well for himself in Switzerland this season. Playing on a line with top 2016 draft pick Auston Mathews has raised his production to a PPG this week. Both assists were passes to Mathews and Mathews returned the favour for Herzog's only goal of the week.
There's your wrap up. Add any insights you may have to the comments. I'll do better to get this out earlier in the week next time.
