During tonight’s game, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced the results of Mitch Marner’s injury from Saturday night’s game against the Flyers:
Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner underwent an MRI exam today after sustaining an ankle injury in last night’s game vs. PHI.

Marner is expected to be out of the lineup for a minimum of 4 weeks, at which point he will be reassessed by the @MapleLeafs medical staff. #LeafsForever
This announcement means that Marner will be out at least over 24 days, so the Leafs can put him on LTIR and can run a full 23-man roster until he returns. This is good news for the bubble players like Nic Petan, Dmytro Timashov, and Trevor Moore who may have faced the waiver wire to cut the roster down once Zach Hyman returns. As well it means the Leafs won't need to focus on cost when calling up players from the Marlies.
Marner’s injury gets added to a long list of injured players this season with John Tavares, Travis Dermott, and Jake Muzzin missing time due to injury as well as Zach Hyman who still hasn’t made his season debut.
