They Leafs will play four games in the next seven days, kicking off with the Anaheim Ducks tomorrow night. The Ducks were obliterated by the Jets yesterday, taking a 9-2 loss. The Jets scored six of those in the first period alone by six different players. Yes, our old friend Randy Carlyle is still coaching them.
Much of the talk in the coming days will be about Auston Matthews’ new contract. Multiple insiders are reporting the two sides are moving closer together on the framework for a five or six year deal. It’s still early, but the increaased amount of talk suggests something could come together soon.
