If the playoffs started today, the Toronto Maple Leafs would face the Montreal Canadiens in the first round. That would be a hell of a matchup, and I don’t know if I would prefer that or facing Boston again. On the one hand, I want to beat Boston so bad and doing so would feel soooooooooooooooo much better than beating Montreal.
Yeah I know, they’re supposed to be our historic rival... but never in my life have they ever really been a rivalry in any sense. There’s that one game where our Goon Squad beat up their smaller skilled players, I guess?
But on the other hand, I think that rivalry would pick up reeeeeaaaal fast if they did actually face each other in the playoffs. Plus, Montreal does play a fun style of hockey. They have some good players, some fast players.
So maybe the Leafs face one of them in the first round, then the other in the second round, then the Islanders in the conference final, and then Winnipeg in the finals? If I managed to survive all of those series it would make a hell of a run.

Why Panarin as a rental is worth the risk, especially for these five top destinations | by Craig Custance, who includes the Leafs. I don’t know how the fuck they would make this happen for a rental, but how hilarious would it be?
Speaking of Artemi Panarin, it was announced he changed his agent to the same one who represents Sergei Bobrovsky, leading to speculation that they want to be a package deal. Poor Columbus.
