The NHL trade deadline has come and gone and the Maple Leafs have made only a handful of small moves. The roster for their road trip through Florida this week will be the same as the one that went out on the ice and lost to the Hurricanes Saturday.
There’s a lot to work through here. Let’s start with links to our coverage of the actual moves yesterday, including a contract extension for Jake Muzzin.

Kyle Dubas speaks in post-deadline press conference
Tyson Barrie was not traded yesterday despite several days of speculation by the hockey insiders that a deal was in the works and would likely be done with the Canucks. At the end of the day, Barrie is still here. His contract will end on June 30, and I suppose we anticipate he will walk away from the team the very next day to play somewhere else. Thus ends Kyle Dubas’ Tyson Barrie experiment.
As mentioned above, the Leafs are on a swing through Florida this week, playing the Lightning tonight and the Panthers on Thursday. Obviously important games, even in the sense that “they are all important now.”
We’ll have a preview of tonight’s game posted later this morning.

There was only one NHL game last night and a few Ottawa Senators were there to play in it. Literally only a few. They were short skaters because of all the trades and waiting for call-ups to arrive.
