Get ready Toronto Maple Leafs fans, today is the first game of the pre-season! We get to yell at the TV over Babcock’s deployment, calls that are blatantly against the Leafs and for the Senators, and then laugh when we realize that this is probably going to be the Ottawa Senators’ opening night roster.

The Maple Leafs end training camp with a pre-season game at the (for now) home of the ECHL Newfoundland Growlers, featuring a line up that is peppered with potential Growlers and Maple Leafs stars thrown in as a treat to their training camp hosts.
The team features big names like John Tavares, Mitch Marner, Kasperi Kapanen, and Frederik Andersen among new Leafs Jason Spezza and Tyson Barrie, and various minor league players.

Like last season in Lucan, Ontario, the first preseason game is more of a treat for fans who aren’t in an NHL market than a proper game for scouting a players NHL prospects, but there are some who will be trying to show off for one of the few spots in the line up. The below players are the ones who have the best shots at the NHL:
Nicholas Baptiste
Frederik Gauthier
Kevin Gravel
Martin Marincin
Trevor Moore
Jordan Schmaltz
The rest will be fighting for their spot on the Marlies lineup or just a chance to not stay behind in St. John’s. There’s two contestants for this year’s third pair in today’s lines, but the forwards are mostly the Marlies.
The Ottawa lineup will come from this roster:
Anders Nilsson is expected to start and play 2-3 periods.
Good luck to those Leafs playing, and let’s get ready for today with a big ol’ GO LEAFS ALL DAY
Wait.
No.
GO ALL LEAFS DAY
Dammit.
GO BUDS GO
Close enough.
