Good morning Toronto Maple Leafs fans!
It's October, the leaves are turning, the players are skating, the Habs are losing, all is well with the world.
We are one week away from the start of the season, and things are starting to tighten up around the ol' training camp. Yesterday we saw a lot of players get moved from the main Leafs camp down to Marlies camp and none of the names were a surprise. Cathy covered that for you here:
We got news on some injuries, Conor Timmins is out week to week, which is vague and concerning. Or not. Who knows what it means?
What else in camp? Calle Järnkrok says he missed some time because he twisted his neck, but feels like he'll play a pre-season game this week.
Good news! I'm still just as old as NHL players. Thank you Mark Giordano for being a true inspiration.
Some post-game cuts from last night.
Waivers happened again, and I'm not happy the Leafs let Akil Thomas go unclaimed. I've always liked him as a player, you can never have too many centres in the system, and the kid grew up a Leafs fan! Come on Leafs, just do me one favour. Anyway, do we want Adam Brooks again? Adam Brooks is available again.
Trevor Zegras signed with the Ducks, three years at $5.75M per.
One big RFA done for the Ducks. Now get on Jamie Drysdale.
The Penguins went to Sidney Crosby's hometown to hold a practice before they played the Ottawa Senators in Halifax.
Staying out east, Cape Breton was the host of an NHL game after winning Kraft Hockeyville. A big scene for a small island.
The international para-hockey championships have started and Canada is in a good place, beating the host Czechia 2-1.
Brandon Sutter retired after being cut from the Edmonton Oilers training camp. He was attending on a PTO.
One of the oldest known hockey sticks has arrived in the Windsor, NS museum.
Support your local museums, folks. You never know what you'll find.
That's it for me, chat away, I have to go to work and make up for having yesterday off. Yikes.
