Guys, you’re going to love this, trust me.
What you’re seeing now is the NHL’s normal state for trade deadlines:
Leafs trade Eric Fehr to San Jose for a 7th RD pick in 2020. Sharks were looking for a 4C.
— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) February 20, 2018
This is an NHL super saiyan trade deadline:
UPDATE: The Detroit #RedWings have traded G Petr Mrazek to the Philadelphia Flyers for a conditional 4th round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and a conditional 3rd round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. pic.twitter.com/nTR27IOfLM
— Detroit Red Wings (@DetroitRedWings) February 20, 2018
And this... this is what is known as an NHL super saiyan trade deadline that has ascended above an NHL super saiyan trade deadline. or, you could just call this an NHL super saiyan trade deadline two.
TRADE
— CapFriendly (@CapFriendly) February 23, 2018
To #Devils
Michael Grabner
To #Rangers
2nd round pick
Rights of D Yegor Rykov (2016 5th round pick- 132 Overall)https://t.co/0oYUoNL2ur
Now I know what you’re thinking: “what a useless transformation, you changed them into armor so what?”
Hmhmhm just wait....
“Have they really found a way to surpass an ascended NHL super saiyan trade deadline? Is that possible?”
“They must be bluffing... I mean what would that make it? A double NHL super saiyan deadline?”
...
#Sens are closing in on a deal to send Derick Brassard to Pittsburgh.
— Bruce Garrioch (@SunGarrioch) February 23, 2018
PIT-OTT deal involving Brassard is ultra-complicated, so much so that Brassard will likely first be traded to a team other than PIT. Then flipped to PIT. Hearing that third team is likely VGK. Potential for layers of salary retention.
— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) February 23, 2018
Hearing @NHL has rejected the Brassard trade unless @penguins @Senators @GoldenKnights can restructure the trade to leagues satisfaction.
— Nick Kypreos (@RealKyper) February 23, 2018
No, stop it NHL! If you do this now it will drain away all the interesting trades you have left this deadline! And I say you need every ounce of interesting trades as it is!
I believe there were four separate transactions involving VGK, PIT and OTT. VGK sent Brassard to PIT for Reaves and 4th-round pick. VGK also sent minor league player Tobias Lindberg to PIT for an as yet unspecified draft pick.

It sounds like the OTT/VGK/PIT transaction was rejected more than once. It’s arguably the most complex series of trades — a total of four among three teams — during the NHL’s cap era.
