In the accuracy shooting competition the participants are paired up, and Auston Matthews meets Sidney Crosby in one pair. Crosby has shot a puck or two in his life.

If Matthews survives that challenge, he has the opportunity to meet Patrik Laine in a later round. I think he’s an okay shooter too. Also in this event are Connor McDavid (passable at shooting), John Tavares (relatively experienced), Patrick Kane, Kyle Okposo (total newbie to the all-star game) and Jeff Carter (done this once or twice).
The relay portion Matthews is entered in involves stick handling, which should be in his wheelhouse too.
The skills competition is tomorrow at 7 p.m. eastern time.
