The Toronto Maple Leafs have been given 1/16 odds to win the Stanley Cup next season, on par with the Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild, and Dallas Stars. They’re ahead of recent Stanley Cup winners Los Angeles Kings, who sit at 1/18 odds.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are on top of the list with 9/1, they could become the first NHL team to win three in a row since the dynasty New York Islanders team won four straight from 1980-1983.
With the core of this team either ineligible (Auston Matthews, William Nylander, Mitch Marner) or protected (James van Reimsdyk, Nazem Kadri, Morgan Rielly, Frederik Andersen) from the expansion draft, we’ll see the key players back on the ice next season for the Maple Leafs. Can they build on this past season and go all the way?
We’re only four months away from finding out.
