The Toronto Maple Leafs have selected Vladislav Kara as their fourth round pick at 124th overall. He is a centre/left wing who shoots left in the same club system as the man the Leafs spent a lot of time scouting this season, Vladimir Tkachyov. Toronto got this pick from Pittsburgh in the Eric Fehr/Frank Corrado trade.
At 19, he’s older than most draft prospects and is a total left field pick. He was not even ranked by NHL Central Scouting. The Leafs found this gem all on their own. Is he a diamond? Or something less exciting? We’ll have to watch him to know.
Mark Hunter referred to him as a winger in his post-draft remarks.

What do you think of this one? This was a very unusual pick.
