The Leafs got a win on the first stop of their three game road trip to close the regular season, defeating the Panthers 2-1 in OT.

Paul Maurice was not happy, as usual.

Matthew Knies unexpectedly made his debut due to roster and salary cap issues that we will cover with a new article soon. But in the mean time, he got a welcome to the NHL from Givani Smith, who is from Toronto BTW.

But Knies lived up to his reputation as the board battling master.

And back to those salary cap issues, the Leafs had to bring in another backup goalie on a try-out contract. This time it was Nick Chenard from the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL. He looked a little concerned for one brief moment that he might actually have to play when Samsonov took a puck to the mask and paused with some discomfort...

But Ilya Samsonov was unbelievable in this game.
