Dell was never drafted. He played under now-Leafs Assistant Coach Dave Hakstol at the University of North Dakota from 2010-2012. He then signed with the San Jose Sharks and has been in their organisation since then through today.
Dell joins the Leafs obviously sitting behind Frederik Andersen and Jack Campbell on the depth chart, but in front of untested prospects Joseph Woll and Ian Scott. Where he could wind up to start the season is still unclear.
What we do know is he has a bit of a temper! He goes after the Flames Sam Bennett here and totally gets away with it.
Now that’s a goalie who is Harder to Play Against™. No wonder Dubas signed him. Seriously, though, it looks like a good depth signing for the organisation with a possibility he could bounce back back to the form he had when he put up that high SV% over 20 games in 2016-17.
