The Montréal fans booed William Nylander harder than any other Swede, and they amped it up more for Auston Matthews as part of last night's pregame ceremony at the four-nations.

We are always going to boo each other, that's how it should be. They belted out O Canada with similar gusto.

Sweden took a penalty very early, and then Canada put out Sidney Crosby with better linemates than he's had in years. He still has it.

And as good as that was, it pales in comparison to every second Connor McDavid was on the ice.

Brad Marchand got the second goal, and I'm not conflicted – I cheered – but we have many Americans here who can boo this for anyone who can't do what the Montréal crowd did.

Sweden was bowled over in the first, but they came back with some puck control and scoring chances in the second.

Shea Theodore exited with an injury to his wrist after a hit.

Sweden finally caught Canada making a defensive mistake:

So, remember when Sidney Crosby was maybe too hurt to play? Yeah, forget that.

Adrian Kempe with a surprise early goal in the third made it a contest again at 3-2 Canada. Binnington not great here.

Halfway through the third, Joel Eriksson Ek with the tying goal. Noted Leafs killer Lucas Raymond in on this play:

Filip Gustavsson with a great save:

And then Canada took a high-sticking penalty with less than eight minutes to go. The PK is very good, and should serve to explain Jon Cooper picking a couple of his own depth guys – no practice needed.

Regulation couldn't decide it, the game went to overtime. Three-on-three for 10 minutes or until someone scores.

Binnington with a great save on Zibanejad.

Gustavsson with multiple saves on MacKinnon.

And then...

Other news? There is no other news for today, just this:
