The Leafs can basically do themselves no good by winning these last two games, and stand to gain by getting a (slightly) better pick in the first round. The playoffs aren't going to happen, and no player is going to prove himself as either capable or incapable in the span of a few days. The Leafs should shut down their vets nursing even minor injuries (Lupul and Bolland are already done) and - discreetly - mail this one in. You wouldn't want them to be accused of tanking by the league, but after losing 9 out of 12 to miss the playoffs, I think the league is unlikely to do so.
