Teams are getting impatient while they wait for the Stanley Cup to be decided. The NHL Draft is next week and free agency very close behind, but the NHL tends to encourage teams to hold off on their moves to give the Finals the full spotlight. Well, after five games and a series that could drag on until June 24th, the teams have gotten impatient. The summer moves have started to flow. And if you ask me, these moves only add more attention onto hockey from fans of teams who likely have disconnected from the season already.
Jacob Markstrom got traded from Calgary to New Jersey for a first round pick and a defensive prospect. The Devils are getting Markstrom at $4.125 million with two years left.
Barclay Goodrow is off the Rangers and back on the Sharks after being placed and claimed on waivers. This situation might've been messy, according to reports.
Kuemper for Dubois also happened. Dubois' massive contract has a NMC that kicks in on July 1st, so LA got him out before that started. Maybe it'll go better for the Quebecer since this time he won't be choosing where he goes. Kuemper is a goalie, who knows where in the range of playable he'll be next season. He has three years left on his deal.
Brittany Howard is retiring from the PWHL to be the head coach of the U16 and U19 girls teams for the Pittsburgh Penguins youth hockey program.
Natalie Spooner's game-worn jersey sold for $4,250 after a last-minute bidding war at auction last night.
The Anaheim Ducks might be hiring Rich Clune from Toronto.
The Oshawa Generals are looking for someone to do their Pride jersey for next season.
Possibly more moves coming from the Food Takes Insider.
