PWHL Toronto lost both games – and the presumptive league MVP – in Minnesota this week in the PWHL semifinals after Minnesota won Game 4 1-0 in double overtime. The Game 5 decider is in Toronto on Friday night with Boston waiting in the wings.
Kristen Campbell and Maddie Rooney had dueling shutouts after regulation, making huge saves on both ends to keep the game scoreless. Campbell was amazing, but allowed one goal on 29 shots, while Rooney was less busy, stopping all 19 shots she faced.
Natalie Spooner, who led the PWHL in goals and points this season, was shut down for the season after a knee injury in Game 3.
PWHL Boston, who is chilling at home waiting for their finals opponent, were having some fun spectating last night. Boston beat Montreal in three straight overtime games, going to five overtimes total in the three-game series.
Easton Cowan and the London Knights are OHL champions and are heading to the Memorial Cup after sweeping Oshawa in the finals. London scored a whopping 31 goals in the four-game sweep, allowing only 9 goals at the other end. Easton Cowan was named playoff MVP with a playoff-leading 34 points in 18 games. His linemate, Kasper Halttunen led the playoffs with 17 goals.
