Boston College and the NHLPA are setting up a program that would make it easier for players to complete their degrees during or after hockey. They are partnering with BC's advanced studies program that offers flexible routes to certificates and degrees. A former Marlie is already in the program!
"Josh Jooris, who played three years at Union College before earning his first NHL contract with the Calgary Flames, is currently enrolled. Brooks Orpik, who played three years for the Eagles before an NHL career in which he won two Stanley Cup championships with the Pittsburgh Penguins, returned to school after he retired and earned his degree in 2022."
The NHLPA agreement with BC comes the same week as the Major League Baseball Players Association announced a similar deal with Syracuse.
Here are the notes from Leafs practice. The theme was "maintanence day" as many regulars didn't attend. The Leafs have today off before they see NYR on Friday. They've chosen to stay in the States during this road trip to reduce travel.
You can read a recap of practice through Berube's comments here. You can also go back to yesterday's F

These practice lines are looking very 2016 Leafs. Reminds me of the day of PA Parenteau and Marc Arcobello. And yes, only three defenders practiced, with Järnkrok joining them. He and Max Pacioretty are practicing but not off IR/LTIR yet because of "reasons".

What happened to William Nylander?
— Mark Masters (@markhmasters) February 26, 2025
Craig Berube: "It was late in the third period. Contact somewhere or something. I don’t really know exactly, because I didn’t really talk to him on the bench about it. At the time, we just said in OT he wasn't going to go."
Craig Berube says Max Pacioretty looked good at practice & will probably be available for Friday's game against the Rangers @TSN_Sports

Here's what the Leafs and the eight other "contenders" need before the trade deadline.
"The Capitals have been the surprise of the season, and they should be engraving coach Spencer Carbery's name on the Jack Adams Award now, if they haven't already."
oh no, the kiss of death.
Happy Thursday!
