Good morning, everyone. Happy Thursday.
More Marlies news today:
🖊 News | We’ve signed defenceman Matteo Pietroniro to a one-year AHL contract.#ForeverStartsHere

That’s a Chicago Steel jersey he’s in, which is American for Soo Greyhounds. Pietroniro looks to me to be one of those guys who might go to the Growlers.
It would appear that the Growlers will have a very AHLer heavy team this year. So far they have no one directly signed, but that’s not yet odd. Many ECHL teams wait until the last minute to sign players — all ECHL deals are one-year.
Women’s Worlds is already underway, after a fashion, which some exhibition games ahead of the real thing. I’ll have an article later with some details. But this is the best news:
Over 1500 COVID-19 tests have been administered since 10 August with zero positive tests being reported.

In NHL news, not much is going on, some teams are adding players on ELCs, and Vegas has completed the Fleury trade transaction:
As many have pointed out, Mikael Hakkarainen is the player that the #Blackhawks traded to Vegas in return for goalie Marc-André Fleury back on July 27th. https://t.co/9py78CvqI4

The annual expiration of NCAA rights was a bit dull this year:
While many of the 2021 off-season critical dates were pushed forward, the August 15 'Must Sign By' for certain College players remained in effect.

Here's a look at the list of players that teams lost their exclusive signing rights to this past Sunday.https://t.co/3B8UOBLIyt pic.twitter.com/0hHQVqdkc7
The only two arbitration hearings that haven’t been settled prior to a hearing are for Nikita Zadorov and Travis Sanheim. Both are scheduled for August 26, and I think the arbitrator is not going to be working on those either.
Still unsigned are Elias Pettersson, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Rasmus Dahlin, Kirill Kaprizov, Henri Jokiharju, Brady Tkachuk, Quinn Hughes, and — of course — Denis Malgin. And about 39 RFAs in total.
