Minnesota topped Toronto 3-1 on Wednesday night on the back of a three-point night for Taylor Heise. Her two goals immediately topped the charts for goal of the year – though Marie-Philip Poulin's hat trick last night tells us she'll have some competition throughout the season.
Sarah Nurse scored the lone goal for Toronto on the road. She had to leave the game for a bit in the second and third period after falling into the boards battling for space.
Boxscore:
Dennis Hildeby and Alex Steeves were named AHL All Stars and will be representing the Leafs in San Jose. Hildeby has a .919 and two shutouts in 15 games. Steeves leads the Marlies with 27 points, though Kieffer Bellows on a PTO leads the team in goals with 14.
Hildeby was sent back to the Marlies as the Leafs continue to need to invest in Ilya Samsonov until they can't anymore. The kid shouldn't be in a rush – that's how you ruin prospects.
Not speaking of ruined prospects, Matthews Knies is perfectly fine. He's apparently fine after hitting a rut in the ice and feeling some pain at practice. Still a bit of a scare, but it could be worse.
