Nazem Kadri is excited about 43 days from now. Hockey will be back by then; also, his number is 43. What a coincidence!
What’s 43 days from now, specifically, you ask? Why, that’ll be Oct. 14. And Oct. 14 is, um... nothing in particular?
See, the Toronto Maple Leafs kick off their season on Oct. 12: 41 days from now. Their home opener is Oct. 15: 44 days from now. So, um, it looks like Kadri got his numbers a little mixed up; he’s either two days too late or a day early.
Whoops. Unless there’s something else going on Oct. 14 that we aren’t too sure about.
Then again, this is the guy who guessed that he was a friend of complacency, so...
Either way, at least Kadri’s message comes across loud and clear. In 40-something days, the Leafs will be playing hockey, and in their own barn, too. That’s the point. And it’s a pretty good one to make.
