Temperature Check: are you hot or cold on the Leafs goalies?

Everyone keeps telling us that goalies are extremely important this season, as if that’s new. Now that the Leafs have one less, I want to start us on what we hope will be a season-long experiment in taking your temperature as to how you feel about the goalies.

Frederik Andersen

Age: 31
Contract: $5 million in the final year

Andersen has played 3 games for 180.7 minutes. He has a traditional Save % of .882 and a Fenwick Save % (counted on all unblocked shots, not just shots on goal) of 91.6% which compares to an Expected Fenwick Save % of 93%. The delta is -1.38.

Jack Campbell

Age: 29
Contract: $1.65 million for two years ending in 2022

Campbell has played one game for 59.8 minutes. He has a traditional Save % of .893 and a Fenwick Save % of 93.1% which compares to an Expected Fenwick Save % of 91.3%. The delta is 1.83.

Michael Hutchinson

Age: 30
Contract: $725,000 for two years ending in 2022

Promoted to the Taxi Squad on January 18, has not played in any games this season.
