Maple Leafs at Blues Preview: Fresh start
In Wednesday’s 3-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche, the Auston Matthews - William Nylander - Mitch Marner line was out together for a total of 3:21 at 5v5. The team was down and they were pressing for a goal hard, and in that environment the trio was 7-1 in shot attempts, 4-0 in shots and 4-0 in scoring chances. Visually, in this small sample, they looked great.

Pontus Aberg was called up and has been pencilled in on the first line with Matthews and Nylander. While I am very high on Aberg’s abilities, it’s a lot asking me to trust he can handle top line duties against the defensively superior St. Louis Blues for a full game.

Sheldon Keefe is surely going to go back to his Big-Three line again if he feels like his team needs a jolt in offense, or if they’re down, right? I hope we get to see it.
What do you call the Matthews-Nylander-Marner line?
The MNM line | 57 |
The Big Three line | 15 |
The Young Blood line? | 7 |
The We Can And We Will line | 21 |
The Negotiation line | 29 |
All of these are dumb and I’ll comment my better one below | 24 |
