One month ago, on December 30, the Sceptres made their big trade with Ottawa, and played that team that day. They both had a Points % of 0.389 going into the game. Now Ottawa is at 0.405 and Toronto is at 0.385.
On the brighter side, Toronto has acquired four points out of their last two games and they are tied in points with Boston and are two behind Ottawa. Things can change fast in the PWHL, but it's true to say they haven't yet changed for the Sceptres.
Montréal is very comfortable on top of the league by both Points % and by points, and they have a little clutch of games in hand as well.
The main difference between the teams is that Montréal scores a lot of goals and Toronto doesn't. But I can't look at Toronto's roster and find a single good reason why they aren't scoring. Natalie Spooner shouldn't be necessary for this team to not be a disaster.
The Victoire just beat the Charge with a Marie-Philip Poulin hat trick, so they're flying high.
Renata Fast just notched three points in the Sceptres SO loss to the Frost, and Jesse Compher and Sarah Nurse added to the goals, so the Sceptres core had the offence firing as it should.
Now Toronto just has to do it against Montréal. No pressure.
Look for lineups closer to gametime, and Go Sceptres Go!
