As you are all aware, yesterday was the start of the 2010 Toronto Maple Leafs training camp. The team has invited (in a mildly controversial move) sixty-four players to take part in the five-day camp. The players were divided up into three teams of twenty-one. It might come as a bit of a shock considering the style of Ron Wilson, but the squads were designed to keep possible line combinations together in order to generate chemistry early in camp. One thing to at least keep an eye on is that Nazem Kadri is playing with Colby Armstrong and Kris Versteeg on Team Kennedy, while Mikhail Grabovski is on team Armstrong with Clarke MacArthur and Fredrik Sjostrom. Another is that John Mitchell is on somewhat of an island on Team Sittler. Certainly not concrete evidence of anything, but interesting to say the least. Ron Wilson also stated that he plans on increasing the pace at this year's camp. This is great news. The Leafs are young and (hopefully) hungry. There's no reason that anyone should have an excuse to take it easy. The team will officially take the ice today for a full practice and drills.
