The Toronto Maple Leafs, in the midst of another disappointing season, have fired head coach Ron Wilson, according to Darren Dreger of TSN. The Leafs are in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, fourth place in the Northeast Division, and Wilson has drawn much of the enmity from a disillusioned fan base.
On the Sens' jumbatron: "Breaking News: Ron Wilson has been fired ..." loud cheers from the crowd.

Bruce Arthur, columnist from National Post, mentioned thunderous chants of "Fire Wilson" at Wednesday night's game, the Leafs' ninth loss in their last 11, so this move clearly will be welcomed by Leafs fans. Whether it will turn the season around remains to be seen; they're five points behind Winnipeg for the eighth spot in the conference.
Dreger is reporting that the Leafs have yet to name a replacement, but Bob McKenzie is predicting that Randy Carlyle will be the interim for tomorrow night's game against their hated rivals, the Montreal Canadiens.
