First Period

Let's start here:

The Preds were not in this period. And the Leafs got to do all sorts of things that looked cool and nearly scored.

After one it was 2-0 Leafs.

Second Period

The Preds decided to play this one.

Joe Woll makes a mess and cleans it up himself.

After two it was 3-2 Nashville. Their first goal came at the very end of the power play, but the other two were during a five-on-five period where Nashville continued to play very poorly, the Leafs had the puck most of the time, and the Leafs frankly just took their eye off the ball.

Just before the big flurry of Predators shots at the end of the period, the Leafs were at over 65% Corsi and under 50% Expected Goals because their own shooting was so low quality. Their defending was worse.

Third Period

Benoit was very good in this game, maybe that should have been a clue it was not an ordinary game.

After some excellent offensive action from the Leafs, this is the play that went the other way:

Benoit took a stupid penalty just because I was complimentary.

The Leafs came on strong after the PK, and with a very early goalie pull, but no joy.

Nashville took a long time to get the ENG.

Final score was 5-2 Nashville.

Not a great PP from the Leafs, and a good from Nashville.

Make some meaningful thing out of this game if you like, I think the Leafs just played like featherheads for a game. Shrug.
