First Period

Textbook clean hit, with no stick up or head shot. More of this, please.

Slo mo:

Less of this instant fight after a clean hit, please (although Domi seems to have started it).

Oliver Ekman-Larsson took a penalty at the end of a scrum that only existed because the play wasn't blown dead when it should have been.

Sam Bennet scored on the power play to tie it.

After the first it was one-all in a fast-paced period.

Panthers with the puck twice as much as the Leafs at five-on-five, but all their quality shooting was on the power play so most of the period looked like it belonged to the Leafs.

Second Period

A. J. Greer forgot the Panthers were due a cheap post-whistle penalty and took a cheap post-whistle penalty.

The penalty was for the shove to Pontus Holmberg.

Matthews got the best chance on the power play, but he shot it just high.

Simon Benoit channeled his inner Mitch Marner and drew an interference penalty.

Anthony Stolarz, yes him, almost scored in his own net on that power play.

Another scrum, but it did not end in a penalty:

The game got hot with some good Leafs chances, but the Panthers cleared some space for Niko Mikkola to skate into the open and score.

Leafs took a two many men penalty at a very stupid time.

Bennet scores again. The Florida power play is just so good, they can easily shoot point shots all night long at five-on-five.

Quite the play by Seth Jones.

After two it was 3-1 Florida.

Panthers with 60% Corsi on the game so far and a better power play.

Third Period

Holmberg opened the third by drawing a penalty along the boards.

The Leafs struggled less and had some chances, but the real fun came as the power play ended:

ed

Leafs were even with the Panthers in five-on-five Corsi late in the third. Shame about the second, though.

With two minutes left and the next empty, the Leafs had some jump in their game, but they couldn't get a good scoring chance. Leafs called a timeout to rest the 6on5 crew.

The timeout really didn't magically energize anyone.

Marner saved an ENG, but that's as good as it got.

Final score was 3-2 Florida, and the Leafs let that opportunity get away from them.

Next game is Saturday against Ottawa.
