7PM ET: Leafs TV
I get it guys, Nikolai Khabibulin's save percentage makes Edmonton long for Vesa Toskala and their defense gives up lots of shots per game (2nd most in the league). The thing is the Leafs aren't much better in the standings and play in a weaker conference overall. If you're expecting this game, or any game, to be a guaranteed win for the Maple Leafs you probably need to take a deep breath.
I want the Leafs to win too, obviously, and on balance a loss for Edmonton gets them closer to a #1 draft pick while getting the Leafs closer to escaping the draft lottery but I'd take it easy with the "AHLberta" nonsense. Taylor Hall, Magnus Paajarvi and Jordan Eberle are producing pretty well for rookies. Ales Hemsky and Dustin Penner aren't half bad, though Hemsky is doubtful for tonight.
Giguere's still not ready so Jonas Gustavsson starts. He sits at a .914 on the season but I think most people here would agree he's playing a lot better than league average. This is likely his last game before getting a well deserved rest; let's hope he finishes this stretch with a bang and gets the goal support he's deserved from this team for so long.
