It worked for Clarke MacArthur yesterday so why not for Luke Schenn today. Schenn is the last Leafs RFA (not named Matt Lashoff) in need of a new contract, and with Burke's track record since joining the Leafs when it comes to RFAs we have all the reason in the world to be optimistic that both the term and the dollar amount will be satisfactory. Yesterday, Brian Burke signed a 62 point LWer to a 2 year, $3.25M per year contract. To put that into perspective, Ville Leino scored 53 points last year for Philadelphia and Buffalo paid him $4.5M a year for 6 years. You bet your sweet ass Buffalo wishes they never traded him away two seasons ago.
Also going through yesterday was the re-signing of one Tyler Bozak for 2 years at $975,000 $1.5M per. With the addition of Tim Connolly, Bozak can finally play the position he's meant for, 3rd line center with 1st PK unit duty, and dumb Leafs fan will finally shut up about him being a "bust". If he can repeat a 30 point season, Bozak will be an absolute steal for the Leafs money wise.
So here's hoping that Burke continues to hit them out of the RFA park with Luke Schenn's contract at the plate. Your links after the jump.
